Scott Surovell focuses his practice in the areas of civil and criminal litigation with a focus on DWI/Traffic Defense, Consumer Law, Personal Injury, Family Law and Appeals. Mr. Surovell has been practicing law since 1996 and is a founding Member of the Firm.

Mr. Surovell graduated magna cum laude from James Madison University with a Bachelor of the Arts and obtained his law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law. Scott is a State Senator representing the 36th Senate District covering Fairfax, Prince William, and Stafford Counties, and serves on the General Laws and Technology Committee, Rehabilitation and Social Services Committee, the Local Government Committee, and the Virginia High Speed Rail Commission. He was a member of the House of Delegates from 2009 to 2015 representing the Mount Vernon area of Fairfax County and served as Caucus Chairman in 2014.

Scott is licensed to practice in all courts in the Commonwealth of Virginia and in the District of Columbia, the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Virginia and for the District of Columbia, the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. Mr. Surovell has litigated a case to the largest personal injury verdict in the history of Fairfax County, Virginia. He has also represented clients in noteworthy class actions, Slayer Statute and property rights disputes, deaths caused by texting while driving, and is an aggressive advocate for the principles set forth in the Virginia Declaration of Rights and the United States Bill of Rights in criminal prosecutions.

Mr. Surovell has received Martindale-Hubbell’s highest AV rating for legal ability and ethical standards since 2003 and has been named by Super Lawyers as a Virginia “SuperLawyer” since 2009 and a “Rising Star” since 2005. Scott has been recognized by Northern Virginia Magazine as one of the top Driving While Intoxicated Defense Attorneys in Northern Virginia in 2012. He has been recognized by Washingtonian and Best Lawyers in America as one of the top Personal Injury Attorneys in the D.C. metropolitan area since 2011. He has also been named by Best Lawyers in America as one of the top Family Law attorneys in Northern Virginia since 2011.

Scott is a Fairfax County, Virginia native, and a graduate of West Potomac High School. He currently resides in Mount Vernon with his wife and four children. In his spare time, Scott enjoys spending time with his children, hiking, and cycling. He rode a bicycle 4,200 miles across the United States, hiked to Machu Picchu, and summited all 46 of the High Peaks in the Adirondacks.
