Rob Surovell focuses his practice in the areas of civil litigation, family law, and personal injury. Mr. Surovell’s forty-nine years of practicing law began in 1969. He is a founding Member of the Firm. Rob believes his law license privileges him to help people with their most intimate conflicts and concerns, and he takes his responsibilities very seriously.
Mr. Surovell graduated from Oakland University with a Bachelor of the Arts and obtained his law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law. He was appointed to the Fairfax County Consumer Protection Commission from 1972 to 1975 and was Chairman in 1975. Rob was appointed and has the remained the Secretary of the Fairfax County Industrial Development Authority since 1975.
Rob is licensed in all of the state and Federal courts in Virginia. He has obtained five reversals in the Supreme Court of Virginia and Court of Appeals, and he has successfully defended trial court victories in the appellate courts. In family law matters, Mr. Surovell encourages his clients to put the interest of their children first. He has handled divorce cases involving no assets and divorces involving estates up to $40,000,000, but he believes that all clients are entitled to the same dignity and courtesy regardless of wealth or status. Some of his significant injury victories include a $3,600,000 jury verdict for a fireman injured in an ambulance accident and settlements for injury victims ranging from $495,000 to $3,400,000.
Mr. Surovell has received Martindale-Hubbell’s highest AV rating for legal ability and ethical standards for decades. He has been recognized by his peers as one of the top domestic relations attorneys in Northern Virginia in the Washingtonian Magazine, and has been recognized for over twenty five years in The Best Lawyers in America book in both Family Law and Personal Injury.
Rob Surovell is a lifelong resident of Fairfax County, Virginia. In his spare time, Rob enjoys traveling, reading, and staying in touch with his family and friends. He has visited all fifty states and four continents.
