G. Donald Markle


G. Donald Markle focuses his practice in the areas of business planning and formation, commercial transactions, acquisitions and mergers, and real estate leasing and finance. Mr. Markle has been practicing law since 1967 and has been with the Firm (or one of its predecessors) since 1976. He is particularly proud and pleased that his practice today includes individuals and businesses that have been his clients for more than forty years.

Mr. Markle graduated from Washington and Jefferson College with a Bachelor of the Arts and obtained his law degree from the George Washington University School of Law. In the first ten years in business in Washington, D.C., he handled a variety of legal matters for multiple clients—small and large business—including clients in three public stock offerings. Since moving to Fairfax in 1976, his practice involves representing and advising business clients on a broad range of issues including the acquisition and sales of businesses, business formation, structuring and restructuring business organizations, real estate transactions, and business operations. Don also represents employers in employment matters, including before the EEOC. Mr. Markle’s current practice focuses primarily on transaction matters for large multi-point automobile dealership groups in all aspects of their business.

Don is licensed to practice in all courts in the Commonwealth of Virginia and in the District of Columbia, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, the United States District Court for the District of Columbia, and the United States Supreme Court. Mr. Markle is a member of the Virginia Bar Association, and the Fairfax County Bar Association.

Mr. Markle has received Martindale-Hubbell’s highest AV rating for legal ability and ethical standards since 1989. He has been commemorated by the Virginia State Bar for completing more than fifty years of service.

Don Markle was born and raised in Coatesville, Pennsylvania. He currently resides in Oakton, Virginia. In his spare time, Don enjoys spending time with his adult children and his grandchildren, and being outdoors.
