After many years practicing family law, Dorothy Isaacs focuses her practice in the area of civil litigation. Ms. Isaacs has been practicing law since 1988 and initially joined the Firm (or one of its predecessors) in 1987 when she began as a law clerk. She continued with the Firm until January 1992, when she opened her own firm in Old Town, Alexandria. Dorothy returned to the Firm in 1997 as a partner. As a lawyer, Dorothy enjoys being able to assist people with resolving their most pressing problems and bringing a case to a successful conclusion.

Ms. Isaacs graduated from Casetleton University with a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Science and obtained her law degree from the George Mason University School of Law. Dorothy has had extensive experience as a trial lawyer in the areas of family law, civil litigation, and criminal law. She has served as a Commissioner in Chancery and a Neutral Case Evaluator for the Fairfax County Circuit Court.

Dorothy is licensed to practice in all courts in the Commonwealth of Virginia and the District of Columbia, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court. Among other professional associations and memberships, Ms. Isaacs served as the Chair of the Alexandria Bar Association Family Law Committee for five years. She has also served on the Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court Committee, the Education Committee, and the Circuit Court Committee and the Conciliation Committee for the Fairfax County Bar Association.

Ms. Isaacs has received Martindale-Hubbell’s highest AV rating for legal ability and ethical standards since 2003 and has been recognized by Virginia and Washington D.C. Super Lawyers, Super Lawyers Top 50 Women Lawyers, Washingtonian Magazine, and Lawyers Weekly.

Dorothy was born in Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas, U.S. Virginia Islands. For many years, she resided in Fairfax County with her husband and their two children. She and her husband now reside in the U.S. Virgin Islands. In her spare time, Dorothy enjoys traveling, especially to the tropics, and reading. In January 2015, Dorothy retired from the full-time practice of law and moved with her husband, Mark, back to St. Thomas, where she is a Certified Mediator for the Virgin Islands Superior Court.
