Jennifer Baumgartner focuses her practice in the areas of business planning and formation; commercial transactions, including acquisitions and mergers; commercial real estate leasing and financing; estate planning; and estate and trust administration. Ms. Baumgartner has been practicing law and has been with the Firm (or one of its predecessors) since 2001. She was made a partner of the Firm in 2013. As a lawyer, Jennifer enjoys bringing families together in addressing their estate planning needs, as well as assisting entrepreneurs and business owners in creating and effectuating their short and long-term business strategies and seeking win-win transactional solutions.

Ms. Baumgartner graduated from Duke University with a Bachelor of Arts and obtained her law degree from the University of Richmond School of Law. While in law school, Jennifer served as a teaching assistant to then-Adjunct Professor James B. Comey, Jr., who is a former Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. She also worked as a research assistant to Professor Rodney A. Smolla in preparing his casebook on the First Amendment for publication.

Jennifer is licensed to practice in all courts in the Commonwealth of Virginia, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. Among other professional associations and memberships, Ms. Baumgartner is a member of the Fairfax Bar Association, for which she previously served as Co-Chair of its Wills, Trusts and Estates Section and its Business Law and Corporate Counsel Section.

Ms. Baumgartner has received Martindale-Hubbell’s highest AV rating for legal ability and ethical standards since 2013, is rated as “Superb” on Avvo, and has been named by Super Lawyers as a Virginia (2012-2015) and Washington D.C. (2013-2015) “Rising Star” in the practice areas of Estate Planning and Probate.  In 2022, Jennifer was named a Super Lawyer for Virginia.

Jennifer Baumgartner was born in Ventura, California, and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. She, her husband, and their beloved Labradoodle, Sadie, currently reside in West Springfield, Virginia. In her spare time, Jennifer enjoys watching sports, travelling, eating good food, and spending time with her friends and family.
